Deadline for voters already registered in a party to change their party affiliation in order to vote in the new party’s primary.  

August 6, 2020

Deadline for new voters and for unaffiliated voters to enroll in a party for voting in its primary.  For new voters, mail-in applications must be postmarked or received by Registrar of Voters or voter registration agency, by this date.  For unaffiliated voters, the mail-in application must be received (not merely postmarked) by the Registrar of Voters by this deadline.  (see exceptions below for in-person enrollment).

August 10, 2020  12 noon

In-person enrollment deadline for new voters and unaffiliated voters enrolling in a party in-person at the Town Hall, for voting in primary.*

*Because the town hall is closed to the public, in-person registration is not recommended for health safety reasons.  If this is the only option, call the Registrar of Voters at 860-429-3368 or 3369 and we will make arrangements.

August 11, 2020 Primary Deadlines

The primary has been postponed to August 11.  All regular polling places will be open.  If this changes, we will post that information here.

There is no Election Day Registration for primaries.

Absentee ballots are available through the Town Clerk’s office:

You may bring your own hand sanitizer and/or gloves to the polling place and you may use your own BLACK pen.  Poll workers will be instructed not to handle voter IDs.

What We Do

As provided by law, the Registrars of Voters maintain the voter registration records for the Town of Mansfield. The Registrars’ duties include:

  • Conducting the annual canvass of registered voters between January and May to ensure records are accurate and complete
  • Managing elections, primaries and referenda
  • Locating and training poll workers
  • Handling requests for voter registration and education
  • Processing mail-in and cross-town voter registrations

The Registrars are elected biennially and work a part-time schedule for the Town. Citizens can also contact the Town Clerk’s Office with questions concerning voter registration and related items.
